Living with presence
Eckhart Tolle, in the Power of Now, wrote the penutlimate book on this subject. And, I highly recommend it to everyone. It’s one of the only books I’ve seen that explains how to recognize that you are not your thoughts in a straightforward manner. Recognizing that you are not your thoughts enables you to be liberated from constant, obsessive thinking, worrying and fear. The book also teaches you how to deal with emotions, so you are not constantly reacting to everything, but are able to transcend a lot of the emotional rollercoaster of life.
Living with presence means you have a huge reservoir of free attention to focus on whatever you like, unencumbered by thoughts about the past, worries about the future, and the vagaries of emotions.
