Living with gratitude enhances every aspect of life. It makes us truly appreciate what and who we are blessed with in our lives. Gratitude requires reflection and I’ve found the best time to reflect on gratitude is right before I go to sleep, since it fills me with such a feeling of contentment and wellbeing.
Every night before you go to sleep, try to make a gratitude list. You can start small, and just write down the things you are grateful for. They can be as simple as getting a good night’s sleep the night before, feeling the warmth of the sun, or sharing a good meal with friends. Or they can be more detailed, like being grateful for the taste of melted butter on a piece of toast in the morning or resolving an issue at work or reconnecting with a friend. It really doesn’t matter how long or detailed the list is. All that matters is that you reflect on what you’re grateful for every day -and you’ll be amazed at how good this makes you feel. – D.N.
